Mandi Himachal Pradesh in India, which serves more than 500 students from rural and economic weaker section of the society. This School is run by Himachal Pradesh Govt. Students are being provided with modern education from classes 6th to 12th .The school is affiliated with HP Board of School Education.

THE TEACHER

Dr. Ramesh Chand Sharma is Lecturer in commerce in the school. He showed his technology expertise towards classroom by preparing his lesson plan using ICT tools and leads as an example for his entire school as a motivator to use the technologies as a teaching aid. His work continued to go beyond the class room and teach the community by showing his participation towards conducting awareness programme on environment, personal hygiene, health and sanitation, Eradication of cannabis/opium, Blood awareness etc.in the city and nearby villages by organising awareness campaign supported by visual presentation prepared on these topics. And thus, he proved that ICT can also be used towards the development of the society besides the classroom. He motivated not only his school teacher but also other school teacher the use of ICT in school educations. He made his subject commerce interesting by creating presentation on each topic. He created school blogs http://rameshchandersharma.blogspot.in, http://gbsundernagar.blogspot.in and website http://rameshchandersharma. Weebly.com for students. These blogs and website not only help students but also help school teacher to implement their information to students. He also used social sites for educating the students.

COMBAT DEFORESTATION

The Seed Is In your Hands, Forest Awaits!

More than ten million trees cut down every day; which means, about four billion a year; and that is a very big number to aghast your senses! More than half of this land coming out of deforestation is on illegitimate terms to fulfil the need of global consumption. To sell wood and animals, derogatory is common around the globe, just to make a few bucks. The human nature, which is surpassing its limits, is leading us to this disaster. The line has been drawn, as our Mother Nature is losing its serene environment. The air that could have been our nectar of soul is turning into vicious venom. Earth’s forests contain over half of all the species living on the planet, but the relentless destruction of natural habitat for global requirement of products like timber, medicine, resin, etc., is causing the death of ecology and devastation of environment. The abomination and insolence of forest is scuttling us to the ultimate end. Nature demands rapport between the humans and the ecosystem to maintain the balance, but now with continuous deforestation, this balance has been broken devastatingly. The uncertain climatic conditions, earthquakes, floods occurring due to lack of trees, the gradual rise in temperature, soil erosion and unauthenticated urban planning are some of the grounds to cover.

Disseminating afforestation to save our Very Own Planet

How can you stop deforestation?

The answer is - you cannot; because of the need of materials required from the trees.

The worst example is Indonesia; due to extreme deforestation there, almost 97% of their natural forests have been lost. All the trees have been wiped out in the need to use wood and other products make the condition so bad that now they have to import everything and the high prices make it unaffordable for the general population to get hold of the basic things.

However, before such a thing happens to us, let us take a leap forward to build a new greener and healthier environment by reforestation with proper planning of wasteland use.

YOU CANNOT PRODUCE MORE LAND, BUT YOU CAN PLANT MORE TREES FOR A GREENER TOMORROW!

When India came under scrutiny, the vast population and shortage of land became one of the major concerns. The question remains that where to inhabit humans if there is no land left. An austere result of making life possible is to reduce forest, sell wood, and wipe out the bio diversity in that area, and you have your land on platter! However, it is not worth; the equilibrium should exist.

Plant a Tree – Serve the Nature – Treat the Cosmos

If you have land, then plant a seed and wait then plant some more, it takes time for the land to do that. Land use planning is a term where you live in a place, which did not come from deforestation, and even if it did come, you make sure that they did not cut down the trees and those trees were relocated. A right land use planning can save many trees, but as the population is increasing, the land is getting shorter to live on every moment.

Plant Your Trees – A Thought, An Initiative, and An Attempt!

We are a group that does the job of planting trees right for you! Let us join hands and save our home, our land, our earth! PlantYourTrees.Com is an initiative, which promotes reforestation to certain authenticated locations sanctioned by the government. Connect with us now, and become a premium forester for a safer greener tomorrow.

REDUCE GLOBAL WARMING

The Outrageous Impact of Greenhouse Effect

When trees are cut down, the stored carbon dioxide will be released in the environment and cause depletion of the ozone layer. Trapped heat inside the earth’s atmosphere due to lack of oxygen, rises the temperature and causes uncertain climatic changes, which sometimes result in catastrophes for the humankind. Carbon dioxide, which is a major greenhouse gas and participates with a huge fifteen percent in the global greenhouse amount, comes one third by human activities and rest from animals and nature itself. Trees balance this act by taking all the carbon dioxide and converting it into oxygen, which works as a lifeline for the humans as well as for the animals.

We All Leave Behind Carbon Footprints!

Carbon footprint is a general term used to define how much an individual releases carbon in the environment. For example, the phone you use runs through electricity and that electricity is made from burning coal or natural gases, then, that fraction of carbon is released for you by the company, which made electricity. The automobiles, which brought your phone to the store also used natural fuel and left carbon in the atmosphere to bring the product you wanted. Moreover, you went to the store by your own vehicle and imprinted carbon footprint directly. Therefore, there is no scale to measure carbon footprint but abundance of carbon emission is withering for milieu.

Need to Reduce the Carbon Footprints

We must reduce the carbon footprint; how?

  1. By three R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle for a better tomorrow! Reduce your accessibility, repair if something is broken, and reuse it; do not just throw it away, but try and restore. Encourage use of recycled products.

  2. To reduce the carbon footprint, reduce "food miles"; means the food that is brought to you should be local.

  3. Plant a garden and grow your own vegetables.

  4. More than 20% carbon footprint is produced by airplanes and ships so adapt staycations, not vacations.

  5. Encourage use of public transport or vehicle pooling to reduce carbon footprint.

  6. Walking and cycling does a great favour towards nature by not leaving any carbon footprint at all.

  7. Refrigerator produces CFC & chlorofluorocarbon that pollutes the atmosphere so use less of it and eat fresh.

EMBRACE THE WARMTH OF NATURE – BY PLANTING, NOT BY PLOUGHING!

The most important is planting more and more trees, which will purify the air and bring down the carbon emission rate to lower its percentage to a level that it is no more harmful for the environment. The greenhouse gases or carbon equivalents contains carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and other synthetic gases that are emitted from burning coal, natural fuels and gases. By planting more trees, the temperature comes down to normal as it counterbalances the greenhouse gases and reduces the carbon footprint.

PLANT A TREE TO SET YOURSELF FREE FROM POLLUTION AND TO REDUCE GLOBAL WARMING

IMPROVE BIODIVERSITY

Mosaic of Habitats Tells the Story of Magnificence, Shattered Pieces Leave It Grotesque!

Plants rule the world. Without plants, the animals in a community do not stand a chance. It is crucial for humankind to protect the forests, as thinking of survival without the conservation of trees is next to impossible; as there cannot be any life on Earth without them. It is not just about saving a bunch of trees; the issue of saving our planet is global.

Do We Really Wish to See a Paradise Turning into a Pandemonium!

Millions of species of plants and animals make the diverse nature of forest. Amazon is one of the best examples where very rare species of animals and plants are found, which only exist in that forest, but the unorganized human development and crucial demand of land use is cutting this paradise of biodiversity. It has led to the demise of diversity in nature. The status quo is the crucial body parts of rare species of animals are sold in the illegal market like elephant teeth, Rhino’s horn, snake and monkeys as pets, the skin of tigers and wolfs to make fur, etc. Dodo, one of the bird species that got extinct due to excessive hunting, is one the worst cases to watch out.

Shudders of Equilibrium – Nature Bespeaks the Damage!

The reduction of biodiversity depends on the availability of natural habitat, and on the contrary, more trees and subtle environment helps create new habitation. The uninterrupted wildlife makes it firm on the stand of existence. The life of animals depends largely on forests - for food, water and shelter; but the human interference disturbs this natural equilibrium for personal gains and motives.

If the Change is Towards a Greener Tomorrow, The Change is Positive!

The change is in your hands; contribute yourself to improve the diversity of nature by planting more and more trees. The change takes time but in the end, it helps to make nature more subtle. Flora and fauna does not come out of the blue, it takes years for forest to make viable and hospitable environment to attract them or to grow and breed them from start.

Plant Your Trees with Us and Do Your Bit for the Universe!

To improve the conditions of current forests, we need more and more trees, and to sustain that, we need your involvement, so take action and Plant Your Trees.

A tree can survive without us BUT we cannot.

PROVIDE LIVELIHOOD

Live for a Better, Greener, and Healthier Tomorrow

Over thirty six hundred thousand industries depend directly on trees and forests worldwide and over a million of them, indirectly. The broad figures are just a measure to show how dependent we are on our forests and if we lost them all, we will be zeroed. Indigenous population is scarce but they exist somewhere, losing their identity in urban population. They sustain their livelihood by forests. Forests provide habitat to animals and humans without asking anything in return; just peace is what it takes. But peace in recent history of human nature has become a not plausible deniability, which is making things worse. Not to mention numerous goods that trees give us; they also give us a place to live. They are vital habitats for animals and insects that are important for food chain, and the nature as a whole. Trees provide the right micro climate for small forest dwelling creatures. Overall, trees are an important natural resource for power and construction. However, the reason for making our ecosystem work well is that it provides us with fresh and clean air, diverse species, life sustainability, natural beauty, and last but not the least, livelihood. So, we should be planting more trees than we plan to destroy.

Leave Room for Future Generations, but Do Not Desolate Wastelands

More than one billion people sustain their livelihood through forests. You need oxygen to live; it is the sole need of your body. An acre of land in one year can produce enough oxygen for eighteen people throughout their lives. People living on hill side largely depend on tress due to the impact of erosion, which is caused by lack of forests, as roots of trees hold the soil from sliding. Not just wood and fruits, trees stabilize the temperature, clean air, provide oxygen, prevent soil erosion, provide economic opportunities and the good things that they do to the environment are endless. Humans as well as animals depends on forest; it gives them place to live and grow, to breed next generations, to make life more comfortable and what do we give them back, cutting and slashing, chopping and burning, ruining land and atmosphere. The increasing demand for forest goods and materials has risen drastically as the population index has gone up in the past years, but you can still have the chance to save your world by giving something back to our Mother Nature.

You’re Perspective - Our Initiative

Verdant ecosystem creates a niche for elusive habitat. Indigenous people in forest reside in those habitats, so as animals, without disturbing the balance which is the need of the hour. Plant Your Trees is an initiative which works for you to do the task. We plant trees on your behalf and make the world a more serene and a more viable place to live for your present as well as future generations. By supporting us in this initiative you can have that sip of the lucid water in your glass every day and the world will be a better place to live in every way possible, with more trees and more biodiversity.

Neck of the Woods in Woods

The ancient time speaks about the human civilization in forests and nearby areas. But these practices are also exercised in the modern age. There is a huge population who are dependent on the forest resources for the existence of their livelihood. Forest or trees fulfil the basic needs of the local communities of the peoples living nearby.

  1. They get fuel wood for cooking their food

  2. They get fodder for their cows, goats, etc.

  3. They get their ‘vitamin-for-life’, fruits, from these trees.

  4. They get non timber forest produce like Amla, Tendu Patta which they collect and then sell them to earn money. This planting trees provide them a job by which they can earn money

  5. Many farming, agricultural needs and livelihoods based on land are interlinked with forests.

  6. Forest products are vital to meet the basic requisite of the rural people to get access to water, fuel, food and medicine.

The culture of people dependent on forests is an evidence of traditional forest techniques which have been part of our culture over thousands of years. Thus forest plays an evident role in nurturing the lives of the poor.

BENEFITS OF TREES

There is a plethora of benefits of planting the trees, from health to environmental impact, to economics and even psychological effects. Planting and then maintaining trees helps lower energy costs, reduce pollution, surroundings improves with green ambience and also increases the value of your property. As green colour is a soothing colour, it helps you recover from strain quickly. Trees enhance the beauty and making your surroundings beautiful is your duty as well.

Trees are very important part of the planet to provide beauty or shade. There are sundry perspectives of trees in human life such as social, communal, environmental and economic. I am going to describe the major benefits of trees in human life. Trees offer everything which is required by human such as Air, food, house, cloth, energy and beauty.

 BENEFITS OF TREES:

  1. Trees clean the air: Trees helps in absorbing odours and pollutant gases such as sulphur dioxide, ozone, nitrogen oxides etc. and provide us with fresh air. They offer the most important thing that is fresh air which is the basic need for human to survive. You should not forget that the fresh air reduces the chances of increasing diseases from polluted air.

  2. Trees provide oxygen: why is oxygen importance to us? Oxygen is life. I hope, you understand what importance of oxygen is for survival. The only resource of Oxygen is tree. Oxygen for 18 people can be provided in one year by an acre of mature trees.

  3. Trees cool the streets and the city: Trees cool the streets and the cities by their shade and evaporation from the leaf surface cool the city further by up to 10°F. Hence they are called the natural air conditioners.

  4. Trees Active lifestyles: Trees helps in improving health as they strongly encourage people to go to parks or in green environment for walking, exercising, jogging or biking which helps them reduce obesity and keeps them fit.

  5. Raise property value: Homes with more trees or having green ambience in surroundings tend to have higher property value than those without trees, because it decreases pollution and have fresh air around which attracts people more.

  6. Trees shield from ultra-violet rays: Ultraviolet rays are very harmful for anyone and can cause the most common form of cancer i.e. skin cancer. Trees help in protecting from ultra-violet rays as they reduce UV-B exposure by about 50%.

  7. Trees provide food: Trees provide food for human beings and also for birds and wildlife. You can plant fruit trees like an apple tree which does not take much space and can be easily planted on the tiniest urban lot. It yields up to 15-20 bushels per year.

  8. Trees heal: According to studies, people with green ambience out their windows heal faster and with less difficulty or complications. So planting trees around or outside your house can not only help you prevent from visiting doctors more often but also heals you naturally.

IMPORTANCE OF TREES:

The trees are extremely important and have always been needed for developing the human condition and lifestyle. It doesn't a make bigger believe that without trees we humans would not exist on this beautiful earth. So, trees are important for life as we know it and are the earth troops creating up an environmental Frontline. There are various importance’s of trees such as Trees Produce Oxygen, Trees Clean the Soil, Trees Control Noise Pollution, Trees Slow Storm Water Runoff, Trees Are Carbon Sinks, Trees, Shade and Cool, Trees Act as Windbreaks, Trees Fight Soil Erosion, Trees Increase Property Values and many more.

As already descried the importance of trees and benefits of trees, there are also numeral of the benefits of the trees except mention above such as Save Water, conserve energy, reduce violence, add unity, provide wood and save earth from an earthquake. You should participate in PlantyourTrees.com to “Save Trees to Save Life”. Save trees to reduce global warming, reduce the carbon footprint and pollution as well as a clean environment.

Briefing on the project

In my classrooms along with lecturing, listening, note-taking process I engaged my children in the classroom activity through discussion, peer learning, sharing, etc. My students are responsible for one another's learning as well as their own. Thus, the success of one student helps other students to be successful. I never transmit information to my children. I always serve as a facilitator for learning. This involves creating and managing meaningful learning experiences and stimulating students' thinking through real world problems. I shared my students’ creative work through online communities. I shared my classroom experience in the 4 Govt. and private schools in HP, which is helpful for approx. 2500 Students.

The students were shown a small presentation made by me on the topic “Plant Trees Save Life” and video from Internet. We had discussion about the topic, and its importance. We began to share our concerns and ways in which we could help with the poor weak students. We discussed ways to improve Environment conversation in school and home. They were then briefed about project requirements. The students were divided into groups and leaders.
